Reviews
I love La Picosa! It is as authentic as you can get. Do I love the location? No really! Do I like that I only feel comfortable going to eat there with my family? No! Other than that this place is amazing. It is a hole in a wall restaurant with very limited sitting. You order at the counter and sit yourself. I don't think the employees speak fluent English. It is cash only. They do have pictures so it's easy to order if you don't speak Spanish. As far as I know, all dishes are served with rice and beans. Tortillas are not made fresh. They are store bought, La Mision brand. I know for a fact because I eat at this place at least once a week. You get big portions. Anything you get is delicious. I always get the carne asada a la plancha, fills me up plenty! Try this place out of you are looking for an authentic Mexican home cooked style meal! They're open late!
There's tons of great taco joints just not in this area. I work in Addison and your options for good tacos at a good price are limited. Granted this is playing a role in my review. Looks And Entertainment: hole in the wall for sure. One TV with the afternoon novela on. The place is clean, outdated decor. Not much to look at to be honest. Service: They only accept cash so be prepared. I'm sure they would get more business if they accepted CC's sicne there's several corporate buildings near by. You order at the counter then sit down. Don't be like me waiting to be seated and the lady at counter stairing at me as if there's something wrong. LOL. The lady was nice and service was prompt. Food came out within 5-10 mins. Food: I had 2 tacos of beef fajita and 2 of barbacoa. Both were very tasty, not the best, but it's worth trying . The salsa was decent and not to spicey. The corn tortillas were crispy and not too greasy. They do come with cilantro and onions, so please make sure you tell them what you want on them before they make them. There's tons of other places that are better in DFW, but if you live in the area it would be the go to spot. It would be something I would drive out of my way to go to.
Think Authentic Mexican Diner. Went for lunch and the food was awesome. Very authentic - they make it right there in front of you on the grill. You can either sit on stools at the prep counter or choose from about 8 booths. CASH ONLY. The enchiladas verde were great - they had great flavor and nice spice. My colleagues had the fajitas de res and the carne de des a la plancha. Both looked awesome. Fresh made tortillas as well. Portion size was perfect - I'm a big eater and I was stuffed and the others in my group had to take food home. Great job La Picosa!
I was tempted to check the back and see where they were hiding my grand ma Cuz I had never tasted menudo as good as hers. Real Mexican food. This is the shit Hubby and I looooove it. CASH ONLY. It doesn't get more Mexican style than that.haha
Tasty Mexican food. Quick stop for breakfast right near the house and it was oh so good. The service was great. And the people so nice. I got some huevos rancheros. And it was great. Wife got similar. Coffee was good. Work on your Spanish because no English. But that is ok. They have pics with the menu. But it was so worth it. Coming back next trip. Gracias!!! It was a little hole in the wall. But cool ambiance.
